Action buttons let you update specific fields on a record. You can add action buttons on both the List view and the Detail view.
Create Action Buttons
List view
Add action buttons to your list layout:
- Click Edit Layout
- Click Actions tab
- Click + add new to create a new button
Action buttons are not available on Kanban and Inbox view display.
Detail view
Add an action button to your detail layout
- Go to your Detail layout
- Click Edit Layout
- Click Page Buttons
- Click Add new
- Choose the record(s) the user can update
Add Action Buttons to your page
When you've created an Action Button, you can add it to your layout in two ways:
Add Action Button as a page button
- Go to your Detail layout
- Click Edit Layout
- Click Page Buttons
- Toggle on your Action Button
Add Action Button in a Field widget
- Go to your Detail layout
- Click Edit Layout
- Drag a field widget into your detail layout
- In the Edit layout sidebar, click the Actions tab
- Choose the Action Button appearance, and which Action Buttons to enable
- Click Save layout

When using your Action Button in a Field widget, you can choose the buttons:
- Position by changing the Display setting
- Button style by changing the Button Style setting
- Conditional showing by clicking the eye icon next to the action button
In our Hiring app we have added in three Action Buttons, one button moves the applicant to the interview stage, the second button is set to reject an applicant and the third to update the applicants name.
Delete an Action Button
- Go to Manage fields and data
- Select the table with the button
- In the top right click Actions
- Click the 3 dots next to the button
- Click Delete
It is only possible to update a record with Action Buttons at the moment. If you would like to see the Action button do something else, please add this into our features request board.
